The Vancouver International Jazz Festival is back this year, bigger than ever before, running from The 22nd of June until the 1st of July 2012.
Formerly held in Gastown, the festival has now moved to the centre of the downtown core on a much bigger scale.
This year’s new location, encompassing all of the Vancouver Art Gallery’s surrounding grounds and Robson Square, includes an array of food carts and retail vendors, two large outdoor stages hosting free concerts, a public dance floor at Robson Square, and two beer gardens (something not allowed in Gastown in previous years, due to merchants opposition).
Additionally, multiple places around the area, including theatres and concert venues on Granville Street, present an array of top of the line musical numbers from around the world.
This Sunday I will be attending my first Vancouver International Jazz Festival ticketed event, a Venezuelan band called Los Amigos Invisibles, playing at Vogue Theatre.
Whether you attend one of the ticketed concerts or drop by to enjoy the free outdoor activities, the Vancouver Jazz Festival is sure to bring joy for anyone with musical or art interests.
